All things print

12 08 2008

Last week I was trying to print some of my own quality business cards and flyers, I thought what better way to get cheap flyers than to print them myself.  I was soooo wrong though the effort required to print something that looked half decent was huge.  In the end I just decided that I didn’t have the right equipment to print at the desired quality.  I am still deciding as to whether I should purchase a new printer or get them professionally printed, either way I don’t think I am going to be able to carry out the printing all that cheaply.

Tennis and Promotion

2 07 2008

In recent times, tennis has taken to promoting itself in a strong way, not only on the tv and in the press, but with the use of leaflets, flyers and business cards.  It’s really amasing what kind of promotional item come through my letterbox for tennis.  Not only that, whilst I was walking arround London last week I got handed a leaflet and some business cards by the same advertiser trying to get me to go to some great offer they had in their store around the corner.  It’s really strange how much of a push tennis is taking recently, you only have to walk down to Wimbledon and you get loads of free gifts and advertising given to you – will it continue – Yes, without doubt

What a great card

Believe it or not I was given this quality business card – it made me giggle.  Maybe not one for the girls.

Quality Business Cards

23 06 2008

Again a slightly off topic post, but I have been finding a couple of things very strange recently – whilst I have been travelling around playing tennis, I keep bumping into the same old people.  What has surprised me so much is the number of business cards that I have been given.  I cannot knock the business cards in any way as they have all been quality business cards with some great printing detail.  However I just dont understand why have been given these business cards whilst playing in a tennis tournament!  In terms of business card printing its most likely great for the printing industry, however do I need matt laminated business cards – I think not, I want to play tennis, talk tennis and drink beer.  Do I want to be constantly reminded of the opponents that I have either beaten of lost too – not really!!!!

End rant.

Flyers

23 06 2008

Aren’t flyers great!  I’ve recently being playing in some tennis tournaments and have been given a number of flyers which I thought were fantastic.  The quality of flyer printing was outstanding, and the use of eye catching graphics was great.  This is not normally the type of thing that grabs my attention when I supposed to be concentrating on the tennis tournament, but hey the cheap flyers caught my attention.  Needless to say the tournament was not a success for me, could this have been because I was spending to much time concentrating on flyers.  One thing to remind me of my lapse in concentration was the compliment slips which I was given to take away.  This will always remind me that the printing industry can serve as a great and yet surprising distraction whilst playing in a tennis tournament in Scotland.
